ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sherry-Lynne Kirschner Marvin The Mindful Marmot

Sherry-Lynne Kirschner has been surrounded by children and animals her entire life.  As a teacher of 30 years, owner of an outdoor education centre and summer camp and a yoga and mindfulness educator, she finds her inspiration from the wisdom of the thousands of students she has encountered, educated and played in nature with.  As a result of teaching in many diverse environments throughout the world, she has seen countless children struggle to regulate their emotions and devastate their ability to learn.

Through extensive research, studying with master teachers, and working with children of all ages, she became aware of the power of mindfulness training to improve a child’s mental health, emotional stability and overall happiness.  She firmly believes that if parents and educators shared mindfulness strategies with the children in their care, not only learning but lives would be profoundly impacted.

Sherry-Lynne created “Marvin the Mindful Marmot”  because she believes every great movement needs a champion to lead it.  Through all of their challenges and adventures, Marvin and his mindful mates culture and develop the child’s awareness, while sharing valuable skills to promote happy, peaceful and active stewards of the earth

Kezzia Crossley has always had an appreciation for art and creating. She is able to use a variety of  mediums as she feels using just one restricts her creativity process. With an overactive imagination herself, being a Children’s Book Illustrator was the perfect fit. She prides herself on being able to enter the world of children’s  imaginations and bring a smile to their face.

Kezzia lives in Vancouver, BC Canada and enjoys yoga,  nature and hiking in her spare time. Many of her illustrations are directly influenced by these hikes in nature and the wildlife she has encountered .
